Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Railways. It was incorporated in 2003 to meet the country's surging infrastructural requirements and to implement projects on a fast-track basis. RVNL works as the construction arm of the Ministry of Railways for project implementation and transportation infrastructure development. The organization undertakes project execution from concept to commissioning and creates project-specific SPVs. RVNL’s mandate includes the mobilization of extra-budgetary resources (EBRs) through a mix of equity and debts via these SPVs. RVNL came into being on 24 January 200. RVNL initiated its IPO on March 29 2019 and became listed on April 11 2019. The 3 pillars of RVNL are: Quality, Speed & Transparency. RVNL successfully completed 18 Projects in 2021-22 and 102 Projects since inception and up to March 2021. There are 72 projects under various stages of implementation by RVNL. As on March 2022, following projects have been completed by RVNL since inception. 1. New Line (NL) = 4 Projects (522.3 Km) 2. Gauge Conversion (GC) = 10 Projects (2095.83 Km) 3. Doubling (DL) = 50 Projects (5172.18 Km) 4. Railway Electrification (RE) = 30 Projects (6834.93 Km) 5. Metropolitan Transport Project (MTP) = 46.14 Km 6. Workshop Projects = 15 7. Cable- Stayed Bridge = 1 8. Others = 12 In FY 2021-22, RVNL increased its expenditure on project execution from Rs.15,403.65 crore to Rs.19,381.71 crore, which excludes the element of Rs.2,325.81 crore as GST. This reflects an increase of 25.83%. Profit Before Tax increased from Rs.1,155.67 crore in 2020-21 to Rs.1406.10 crore in 2021-22 and Profit After Tax (PAT) increased from Rs.940.55 crore in 2020-21 to Rs.1087.21 crore in 2021-22, showing an increase of 15.59% over the previous year.
