Since 1997, Ospedale San Raffaele added among its significant assets a specific research unit: the center of Advanced Technology in Health & Well-Being. The center is oriented to Information Technology applications in the health domain: the eServices for Life and Health; a suite of personalized and trusted added value services delivered on state of the art web-based information platform. The center aims at lowering the invisible cultural, organizational, economic and environmental barriers that hamper stakeholders’ effort towards healthier, greener and fairer behaviours in everyday life, both for Individuals and business/social actors. OUR VISION is DESIGN, DEVELOP AND DEMONSTRATE the ethical, scientific, economic and technological feasibility of innovative personalized services aiming at promoting Well-Being and informed choices in daily life. OUR MISSION is to create Smarter & Healthier City, Smarter & Healthier Life and Smarter & Safer Hospital. In a Multidisciplinary environment we adopt a process fostering innovation while supporting the transition from fundamental to applied research: Co-CREATION, where tomorrow’s technologies and services are conceived, designed and evaluated with users’ active participation. Thanks to the City of the Future LIVING LAB of the Ospedale San Raffaele of Milan, a network of scientific communities, SMEs, large companies and institutions, we favour this collaborative approach whilst observing an extended number of users interacting with a great number of services within a real city environment. We adopt a philosophical engineering approach: The AWARENESS ENGINEERING, an engineering that helps our social life without giving up our individuality and pushing us to respect the needs of the community. The Awareness Engineering aims to create systems that favour the FREE WILL but that, at the same time, promote responsible, conscious and sustainable behaviours – both individual and collective.
