ICAP (Infection Control Assessment and Promotion Program) is supported by the Nebraska DHHS HAI Program via a CDC grant. ICAP offers no cost, peer-to-peer infection control assessments and recommendations. Our team includes experienced infection preventionists, infectious disease trained medical directors, and professional educators. The staff links healthcare facilities across Nebraska with the latest research and best practices in infection prevention and control. Sites which have been visited have found the information useful in preparation for regulatory surveys. Our team actively supports educational programs focused on building infection prevention and control infrastructure both locally and nationally. Nebraska ICAP uses the data collected to analyze the infection control gaps. Trends can be reviewed via our publications and presentations ICAP partners with ASAP, the Nebraska Antimicrobial Stewardship Assessment and Promotion Program, to help sites develop programs for reducing unnecessary antibiotic use with the ultimate goal of preventing antibiotic resistance.
