About Make A Difference

Make A Difference (MAD) is one of India's largest millennial-driven, non-profit organizations working to transform outcomes for children in need of care and protection. MAD's Vision is that all children that grow up in care in India are able to realize equitable outcomes on par with the middle class. MAD’s Mission is to ensure that all children in shelters across India are able to realize equitable outcomes within the next 25 years, by mobilizing the community, empowering the child, enabling the sector, and changing the ecosystem. We are building new holistic, integrated, and long-term developmental methodologies that enable us to work with children in an age-transitional way, all the way from young childhood into adulthood, from age 10 to 28. As of today Make a Difference works with approximately 3500 children in partnership with 60 shelters across 23 cities in India, through a highly efficient and unique operating model that is almost entirely volunteer-driven with an overall workforce size of 4000 in flat, distributed structure that runs on virtual infrastructure. We operate at less than 1/10th the cost of an equivalent sized non-profit, with no loss in continuity, retention or quality, and are pioneers in both culture and organisational design that is specialized for impact.
