The Chemical Technology program at Cape Fear Community College is a two-year program that provides hands-on training and education focusing on various aspects of the laboratory environment. Graduates of the Chem Tech program will find employment in the pharmaceutical, environmental, forensics, food/beverage, cosmetics, or other chemical-related industries. Students will take an assortment of classes that will include wet laboratory techniques, quality control, advanced laboratory methods, forensics, food chemistry, and instrumentation. An Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (requiring general chemistry and organic chemistry) and a diploma are options for students. A Career & College Promise (CCP) pathway is also available to high school students. Students may begin the program during the fall or spring semesters. Currently, no pre-requisites are needed for any first-year CTC courses, allowing a student to begin the program immediately after enrolling at CFCC.
