Encouraged by the then CFO, Guilherme Affonso Ferreira, the company began to invest this cash by investing in shares in publicly traded companies traded on the stock exchange. This investment activity in shares gained momentum and became Bahema's main business. In , a new board of directors at Bahema took over the company and began to analyze investment opportunities in Basic Education. In , the first investments in the sector emerged: Escola Balão Vermelho/Colégio Mangabeiras, in Belo Horizonte/MG, Escola Parque, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ and Escola da Vila, in São Paulo/SP. Also in , Bahema began to invest and became a partner in Escola Mais. In , the company collaborates with Escola Viva (São Paulo/SP, and creates the group “Critique”, which promotes the exchange of good practices between schools. In , Bahema becomes a partner of Centro Educacional Viva, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, and announces the acquisition of Fórum Cultural, in Niterói/RJ. Colégio BIS, in São Paulo/SP, begins to form part of the nucleus of schools in Bahema in October, being the group's 3rd bilingual institution. In addition to BIS, Colégio Apoio, a socio-constructivist institution in Recife/PE, begins to integrate Critique.
