It all started on November 20, when Felipe Pozuelo founded the “Fábrica de Galletas y Confites Felipe Pozuelo e Hijos Ltda,” which was located in a small building on Paseo Colón, in front of the San Juan de Dios Hospital. Given the increase in demand, Mr. Felipe decided to expand the factory's infrastructure and machinery, for which he purchased land in La Uruca, a place that, to this day, houses our Production Plant and Administrative Offices in Costa Rica. In we were acquired by the American company Riviana Foods, of which we were a part until . From this period on, all our products are marketed under the “Pozuelo” brand and, thanks to the growth we have had in the region, we opened Marketing Offices in other Central American countries: Nicaragua in , Panama in , El Salvador and Guatemala in the . In , the strength and leadership in the market led Compañía de Galletas Pozuelo to be a subsidiary of the Colombian Consortium Grupo Empresarial Nutresa, which is the fourth largest Food Sector Group in Latin America, as it maintains a portfolio with brands, in its business units: Cold meats, Cookies, Chocolates, Coffee, Ice Cream, Pasta, Tresmontes Lucchetti (TMLUC) and Consumer Products. In Costa Rica, Grupo Nutresa has two plants in addition to Pozuelo: Compañía Nacional de Chocolates y Helados Pops.
