Brasil Terminal Portuário is the newest and most modern port operator in the right bank of Santos Port. Its multi-user terminal has approximately 490,000 square meters and current handling capacity of 1.2 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) . The local was considered one of the largest environmental liabilities of the State of São Paulo for more than five decades. In 2009, BTP started the environmental land remediation work, concluding the process in March, 2012 . The investment in the project is about USD 1 billion, and the terminal was officially inaugurated in November, 2013. The company has about 1,000 employees and generates thousands of indirect jobs.
