In March, BinterCanarias begins its operations in the Canary archipelago. At that time, the company's fleet was made up of four CN aircraft. The first flights were made between Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma and Fuerteventura, islands that were later joined by Lanzarote and El Hierro. After the inauguration of the La Gomera Airport (July), BinterCanarias also opened a route with that island. In this first stage of the airline, the immediate objective was to guarantee a greater number of frequencies between the islands, while the company's managers were already considering the implementation of procedures that would tend to streamline the entire operation. BinterCanarias was born as a regional airline, and in that sense it is the only one that currently operates in the eight airports of the Canary Islands. Since the year, it has begun an internationalization process that currently translates into its connections with Marrakech, El Aaiún and Madeira, which have recently been joined by four new destinations: Casablanca, Agadir, Cape Verde and Lisbon. And from January it will also connect with Banjul.
