Arapahoe County is Colorado's first county and the third largest in the state with a population of more than 618,000. The County has 13 incorporated communities, including Aurora, Bennett, Bow Mar, Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Columbine Valley, Deer Trail, Englewood, Foxfield, Glendale, Greenwood Village, Littleton, and Sheridan. Arapahoe County was named for the Arapaho Indians, who along with the Cheyenne Indians, occupied most of Colorado when it was only a territory. An elected, five-member Board of County Commissioners serves as the administrative and policy‐making body. Voters also elect the County Assessor, Clerk and Recorder, Coroner, District Attorney, Sheriff and Treasurer. Arapahoe County has 2,011 employees and a $339.3 million budget. The County has one of the lowest mill levies of counties on Colorado's Front Range. The County Administration Building is located at 5334 S.
