The Angola LNG Project is one of the largest ever single investments in the oil and gas industry in Angola. Its plant is located in Soyo, 350km north of Luanda, at the mouth of the Congo River. It has been designed to process up to 1.1 billion cubic feet of gas per day with nominal capacity of 5.2 million tons of LNG per year, as well as producing propane, butane and condensate and up to 125 million cubic feet of gas per day for supply to the local market. Angola LNG gathers, processes and creates value from associated gas produced in oil operations. By utilising associated gas in this way, it significantly contributes to the elimination of gas flaring in Angola while allowing for the development of offshore oil reserves in an environmentally sustainable manner. It creates value from an important resource that would otherwise be wasted. The project is the result of a partnership between Sonangol, Chevron, BP, Eni and TotalEnergies.
