The U.S. government is launching the Agility Prime initiative to accelerate the growth of the transformative vertical flight market. The Air Force will evaluate these platforms through ongoing government testing and early use cases, beginning in 2020, to assess the potential for commercial-off-the-shelf procurement of an entirely new, optionally-manned aircraft for entry into initial operational capability by 2023. This program endeavors to collaborate with the commercial market in a mutually beneficial manner to develop and acquire new capabilities for affordable distributed logistics and disaster response. The intent of the initiative is to create more lucrative investment opportunities that incentivize capital flows to accelerate commercial and government fielding.
