It also has tie-ups with all leading companies for life, general & health insurance. Lokmanya started its journey with one single motivation – building a socially responsible partner for the people of the society with dreams and ambitions. It was a result of the beliefs of a man who has lived by this philosophy of being “socially responsible” all his life – Shri. Kiran D. Thakur. His one decision in 1995, changed the lives of many people in years to follow. The journey started from Belgaum. With the motto of serving the people, Lokmanya Cooperative Credit Society Ltd. was founded in 1995, by Shri. Kiran Thakur, a renowned social worker and the editor of Tarun Bharat Daily. The idea to empower people was driven by the vision of Shri. Thakur, who was ably supported by a group of like-minded individuals.The first step of empowerment was to give financial support to the ambitious yet needy people, who believed in passionately following their dreams. Over the years, the passion, dedication and vision of Shri. Thakur has diversified the operations of Lokmanya. Today, after more than 2 decades, with 213 branches across 4 states, Lokmanya continues to support more and more dreams, across the rural-urban divide of India.
