Tech’s employee experience is coming back to earth

In “Tech companies spoiled workers for decades. Now layoffs are bringing them down to Earth,” Business Insider examines what that shift meant for workers who had grown accustomed to an unusually strong employment environment.

“The feeling was that it is so exceptionally, incredibly, out-of-this-world good,” Ayas told Business Insider. “I feel like that's been brought down to earth.”

At the time, companies including Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon had announced more than 50,000 job cuts combined, part of a broader correction following rapid pandemic-era hiring.
