In 1961, a South Australian pharmacist, Mr Alan A Russell OBE, met a distressed hairdresser. She told him a customer had slipped in her shop and was suing her and that she had no public liability insurance. Mr Russell imagined pharmacists being placed in the same position and recognized the opportunity to provide a vital service. He had the idea to provide specialized insurance cover against risks of running a pharmacy. In 1963, Guild Group was founded. We have grown from a small business focused on the pharmacy industry, into a multi-faceted business dedicated to protecting Australian professionals. Guild Group now includes seven financial and professional services companies encompassing a comprehensive Shared Services team to support all businesses within the Group: GUILD INSURANCE provides business insurance, professional indemnity, home & contents and car insurance. ACERTA is the intermediary division of Guild Insurance responsible for developing commercial insurance products with our Broker partners that are then distributed through their networks.
