Founded in November, by a group of farmers in Campo Mourão, in the Central-West region of the State of Paraná, Coamo is a strong cooperative that guarantees safety, solidity and promotes the economic, technical, educational and social development of its members . The cooperative has units located in municipalities in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso do Sul, to receive agricultural production from more than a thousand members. At Coamo, the more than nine thousand permanent employees, with their functional skills, are responsible for conducting the cooperative's operations and activities. Coamo accounted, in , for % of Brazilian grain production, demonstrating its strategic importance in food production nationally and internationally. The cooperative has a storage capacity of more than million tons to meet the needs of its members, with soy being the main product received, followed by corn, wheat, coffee and others. The industrialization of the products received aims to add value to the production of members and is carried out in a manufacturing park composed of soybean crushing industries, a margarine and vegetable fat factory, a refined soybean oil industry, cotton spinning mills, a wheat mill, roasting and coffee grinding and feed mill. In Paranaguá, on the coast of Paraná, Coamo maintains a maritime terminal. With this, Coamo reaps the results of technological advances in its activities, resulting in an improvement in the socioeconomic status of its members.
