PlasmaGen BioSciences Private Limited is India’s first Plasma Protein Therapeutics focused company established in 2010 at Bengaluru. But what prompted us to become India’s first Plasma Protein Therapeutics focused company? Read on to know our story. Years ago, India was plagued with a rampant unawareness about plasma benefits which led to ~6 lakh liters of blood wastage every year. Such disheartening statistics strengthened our resolve to embark on creating awareness among blood banks as well in addition to the management of plasma and marketing of plasma products for India. Since 2010, PlasmaGen continues to operate with a singular vision of bridging the demand and supply of plasma protein products for the country and thereby improving the health and quality of life for thousands of patients along the way. While we are steadily inching towards making India truly “Atma Nirbhar” towards the availability of Plasma derived medicinal products, we are also passionately creating awareness about a set of health conditions called as Rare & Genetic diseases. Till date, there are about 7,000 – 8,000 rare diseases identified, ~450 of which have been recorded in India. Few of them are Hemophilia, Thalassemia, Sickle-cell anemia and Primary immunodeficiencies. To address the needs of these set of patients and accomplish the Self Sufficiency Ratio for India that it had set out to achieve at inception, PlasmaGen’s manufacturing plant which is close to completion at Kolar (Bengaluru), is an ode to the nation.
