Norges Bank Investment Management manages the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global, often referred to as the Norwegian Oil fund. The aim of the fund is to ensure responsible and long-term management of revenue from Norway’s oil and gas resources so that this wealth benefits both current and future generations of Norway. Our objective as manager of the fund is to generate the highest possible return on the fund. We aim to achieve this in a safe, efficient, responsible and transparent manner, and within government guidelines. GLOBAL PRESENCE The fund is the largest single owner in the world’s stock markets, owning almost 1.4 percent of all shares in the world’s listed companies. This means that we have holdings in around 9,000 companies worldwide. In addition, the fund owns hundreds of properties in some of the world’s leading cities and global distribution networks, invest in renewable energy infrastructure and receives a steady income from bonds issued by governments and related institutions and securities issued by companies. We have offices in Oslo, London, New York, Singapore and Shanghai. Our global presence brings us closer to the markets we invest in and ensures stronger links with partners in different parts of the world.
