We also encourage healthcare providers to provide good and safe care. We also ask them to commit to prevention, cooperation and continuous access to healthcare and youth care. We act in the public interest and strive for effective supervision. That is why in our independent supervision we choose themes and activities that yield the most benefit for people who need care or youth assistance. We assume healthy trust in healthcare and first responders. If necessary, we intervene. We are open and honest about how we assess that quality, the dilemmas we encounter and the choices we make. We understand our profession, know the practice and respond to developments in healthcare and society. We work together where possible, but our judgment is always independent. This is how we fulfill our responsibility as a government inspectorate. We are the Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate (IGJ, part of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
