We are responsible for the reception, guidance and outflow (from reception) of asylum seekers in the Netherlands. The COA is an independent administrative body (zbo) and falls under the political responsibility of the State Secretary for Justice and Security. The COA is accountable to this ministry. Our vision: We are professionals in the field of reception and guidance of asylum seekers and play a central role in the reception process in the Netherlands, where we respond flexibly to the nature and extent of the asylum inflow and outflow. In good cooperation with the partners involved, we prepare asylum seekers for integration and (labor) participation in the Netherlands or we contribute to return with a perspective. We offer high-quality guidance to asylum seekers, even beyond the borders of the shelter. The asylum seeker's own responsibility is the starting point. They receive the guidance they need. We are proactive, prepared for new developments and equipped for flexibility with regard to all facets of our work. We are working on a good national and international network, focused on the Dutch perspective. Our mission: COA is the organization in the immigration chain that offers asylum seekers livable and safe shelter and guides them to a future in the Netherlands or abroad. COA does this in collaboration with partners in society.
