About São Paulo Transporte
São Paulo Transporte (SPTrans) is the name adopted in March for the municipal authority whose purpose is to manage the public bus transport system in the city of São Paulo. It was founded by the Companhia Municipal de Transportes Coletivos (CMTC. All municipal bus lines are operated by concessionaires, under the supervision of SPTrans, a public transport planning and management company. SPTrans issues operation service orders for each line , including definition of routes, operating hours and necessary fleet. Payment for the ticket can be made in cash, using a card called Bilhete Único and also through devices that allow payment by debit or credit using contactless technology, such as NFC. The company also manages the city's bus terminals and corridors.
